Northwest Skaters United was founded in Portland, Oregon on February 17, 2013 by Ezell Watson III. Ezell, a recent transplant to the Portland Metropolitan Area, met and skated with a cache of creative and unique skaters. He noticed that the Pacific Northwest had very distinctive silos of skaters based on where they lived, the style they preferred and skill level they possessed.
Ezell, having relocated to Portland from Dallas, Texas, had experienced what a true skate community should look and feel like. In February 2013 he founded Northwest Skaters United with the hope of building a community where all are welcome and encouraged to join.
Northwest Skaters United is not just a skate community, we are a community of people who just so happen to skate. We share in each others lives, accomplishments, set backs and triumphs. We are a community that believes in the power of building one another and supporting our personal and professional goals on and off our skates.
We hope to continue celebrating the diversity of skaters and skate styles in the Pacific Northwest, by planning inclusive events that are intended to reach those who love the art of skating and those who we hope to introduce to it. For this reason, our events may be a little different than typical skate jams you may have visited.
Our goal is to simply build the Pacific Northwest skate community one day at a time by providing a platform for information sharing, support, and encouragement of events, lessons, videos and general information.
